Double cab and XL models offer space for big and small

Kreuzwertheim/Stuttgart. The CMT in Stuttgart is a vacation trade fair that also attracts many families. You can orient yourself there to find out which vehicle suits you best. Flexibility at the vacation destination and, of course, sufficient space are very important to them. Against this backdrop, double-cab and especially XL pick-ups are increasingly coming into focus. In combination with detachable living cabins, they offer a great deal of freedom and have sufficient storage space for parents with up to two (small) children. At the stand of market leader Tischer (Hall 5, Stand B76), you will be able to find all the information you need about vehicles and suitable cabins.

Maximum flexibility at the vacation destination

For children, excursions are the highlight of the vacation. So parents need to offer variety if they don’t want cabin fever to set in. A flexible car at your vacation destination quickly becomes a valuable companion that can be used to explore the countryside as well as the city. A motorhome is quickly too unsuitable for off-road use or too bulky. Pick-ups, on the other hand, can conquer almost any terrain with their all-wheel drive, long wheelbase and horsepower. As their height is usually less than two meters, they can easily get into any parking garage or very close to the beach. Simply set down the cabin and turn your own vacation idea into reality. The pick-ups of the 21st century combine these practical aspects with a high level of comfort as part of their transformation into lifestyle vehicles.

Áde wooden platform charm – welcome comfort

As double cabs, pick-ups offer five fully-fledged seats – just like a normal passenger car. Numerous features such as safety assistants, leather seats, air conditioning, navigation and entertainment systems are now standard. A reversing camera helps with parking if required and the flatbed is larger than any trunk. Compared with one-and-a-half-cabin pick-ups, however, the loading area is shorter. The space at the front is needed for the additional seats. Nevertheless, Tischer offers a wide range of living cabins for double cabs: With the 200, 220, 230 (and 230S with side entry) and 240 models – each as a BOX and TRAIL variant – the prospective customer has a choice.

Tischer cabins: four berths, bathroom and kitchen

All Tischer cabins are largely handcrafted and feature a comprehensive range of equipment. All models (except TRAIL/BOX 200) have an integrated bathroom with shower. The kitchen has a 3-burner gas hob, a sink and a fridge – so self-catering is no problem. Numerous clever storage spaces ensure that there is room for both shopping and your favorite personal items. The cabin cannot guarantee the feeling of space of a motorhome, but it is still surprising how much space is possible in it. The headroom is a comfortable 1.95 meters, the bed in the alcove is also not too small at 1.98 x 1.50 meters and a seating area with table makes games or TV evenings possible. “The seating area can be converted into a second bed. With a width of around 1.13 meters, this sleeping area is rather cosy. But that’s enough for families with up to two small children,” explains company boss Peter Tischer. If you want to gain a little more space, the loading area of the pick-ups can be extended as an option.

Would you like a little more?

In order to be able to place the in-house TRAIL 260S on a double cab, Tischer has already had such an extension carried out on two pick-ups. Both the VW Amarok Double Cap XL and the Isuzu D-Max Double Cap (“BigMax” variant) have 31 centimeters more wheelbase and can shoulder the more spacious cab without any problems. The driving behavior remains significantly more dynamic than that of motorhomes or cars with caravans. Despite an increase in weight and a payload of over 1.2 tons, the combination of cab and pick-up always remains under the 3.5-ton limit. A class B driving license is therefore sufficient for vacation fun.

Pick-ups are commercial vehicles for lone wolves? Thanks to plenty of space and comfort, those days are over! Double cab and XL models prove it: The powerful all-wheel drive vehicles can easily shoulder a young family’s vacation and also offer a number of advantages such as unlimited freedom at the vacation destination.
